The animal stays half-seen, on purpose. It's hidden so there's room for the viewer to bring their own imagination into the gap I've left. It's also resistance. The animal stays itself, not shaped into whatever I, or the viewer, want it to be. It's actively resisting the frame I'm trying to put around it. I’m interested in the animal still holding something back, from me and from whoever's looking.
